Magnetohydrodynamic Control of Hypersonic Separation Flows

Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) control of hypersonic laminar separation flows is investigated in this paper. A series numerical simulations over various geometry configurations, namely, a compression corner and double wedge ramp inlet, have been conducted by application an external electromagnetic field. Results show that the performance MHD flow mainly determined acceleration Lorentz force directed streamwise direction. The Joule heating term always brings negative effects on increased static pressure locally, where field applied. With applied, low velocity fluid boundary layer can be accelerated. Moreover, there exists best location for zone to applied completely eliminate from surface.
